Restaurant Ubhar
As one of the leading fine-dining restaurants in Oman, UBHAR offers authentic Omani and Arabic cuisines, and a wide range of international delicacies.
The name UBHAR is synonymous with an ancient Omani city. UBHAR is named after the fabled lost city of Ubar, located at the southern-end of Oman in the Rub Al Khali (the Empty Quarter), recognized and celebrated as the centre of the lucrative frankincense trade for nearly 5,000 years.
UBHAR was a processing and shipping centre for frankincense, an aromatic resin grown in the nearby Qara Mountains. Used in religious ceremonies, perfumes and medicines, the frankincense was as valuable as gold. Excavations at Ubar and other sites had explored the first accurate information about the trade in frankincense, one of the first agricultural commodities to become an item of commerce.
